exploding motor car is a collective based out of toronto.. i'm a friend and fan of winston hacking, one of the members.

and ohbijou is nice to listen to, (also from toronto).. so the combination of both is:

from this thursday to monday, i will be in new york for lebasse project's go east pop-up show.

i will staying in the lower east side, but also hoping to catch a lot of great shows that are up in chelsea.
gotta make sure to hit up a gray's papaya and kenka at st. mark's.

i wanted to promote this show real hard, but due to unforseen circumstances the paintings that i had completed for the show will not be there; if there is interest as to what those pieces are, you can see them here, (the first six pieces shown). in place of them, lebasse will have some older, but previously not-exhibited works of mine on display.

if you are in the new york area, please come out for the event and say hi. i will have a little surprise for you at the signing..

on this glorious sunday, novemeber 1st, i will be part of CANZINE, Canada's Largest Zine Fair and Festival of Alternative Culture. i will be at the gladstone hotel on queen west and gladstone, from 1-7 pm with a cool guy and gal by the name of nimit malavia and martha chan.

please come by and check out the zines i will have:


all in all, 24- 5.5 x 8.5" pages of fun in the sun- with a mylar cover and original drawing on the inside cover.


sleep warm series, 1-4, also 24 pages of 4.25 x 5.5" of the little nuances of my creative living, guaranteed to make you sleep warm at night. there will be a special price for these, so come and see. i have a bit more of the 4th issue since i just made it, but very few of issues 1-3 left. make sure you get one- each of these have an original drawing for a cover and a little love note on the back.


and last but not least, why so serious? a 5.5 x 8.5" 12-page, collaborative effort, (kind of a conversation) between erika danusasmita and i.

there will also be some other nice surprises, so come by and check it out. i'm excited and you should be too!

i was asked a few months back to be a part of hello kitty's 35th anniversary show at royal/t art space in los angeles. it is a show that consists of over 80 artists, curated by jamie rivadeneira from japanLA. it is sure to be a huge event and one to see if you are lucky enough to be in the area. this is my contribution to the show:

in a makeshift raft with only the light of fire.

lately i've been invigorated with a renewed sense of desire. i'm painting again- i'm making work that looks awkward and unsure and i've never been happier.

in this way, i'm truly painting life. with all of its insecurities and mystery... how could i be painting perfect images when i am far from living a perfect life?

this is the first time in my life that i'm looking into my work and feel like i'm learning things. not necessarily the same kinds of things you learn from reading books and auditing lectures, but the kind of learning you get when you look up at the sky serendipitously to see a shooting star.

it's odd how i've never made so many mistakes, yet it's the most perfect form.
